Question 1

What is EXIF data?

Accepted Answer

EXIF is information that cameras and phones save inside each photo: the camera and lens, exposure settings, the date and time, often the GPS coordinates of where it was taken, and sometimes the owner's name or the camera's serial number.

Question 2

Why should I remove metadata before sharing photos?

Accepted Answer

GPS coordinates can reveal your home, school or workplace, and serial numbers can link photos to the same camera. Many social networks strip metadata on upload, but email attachments, messaging apps sending files, cloud links, forums and marketplaces often keep it.

Question 3

Does removing metadata reduce image quality?

Accepted Answer

No. The tool deletes the metadata blocks from the file without re-compressing the picture, so the pixels are exactly the same. Color profiles are kept so colors don't change, and the file usually gets slightly smaller.

Question 4

What does “Keep photo rotation” do?

Accepted Answer

Phones often save portrait photos sideways with a tag that tells viewers to rotate them. Keeping a tiny rotation-only record keeps those JPG photos upright after cleaning. Turn it off to remove everything.

Question 5

Which file types are supported?

Accepted Answer

JPG, PNG and WebP: the tool removes EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, comments and PNG text data. For HEIC and other formats, convert the file to JPG or PNG first, which also drops its metadata. You can clean up to 50 photos at once and download them as a ZIP; nothing is uploaded.
