Question 1

How do I blur part of a picture?

Accepted Answer

Upload the image, choose Blur, then drag boxes over the faces, license plates or text you want to hide and set the strength. You can also click “Add box” and move or resize the selected box with the arrow keys. Then download the result.

Question 2

Should I blur, pixelate or use a solid box?

Accepted Answer

Blur gives a soft, natural look, pixelate turns the area into large blocks, and a solid box covers it completely. For passwords, card numbers, addresses or documents, use the solid box: blurred or pixelated text can sometimes be made readable again.

Question 3

Can I blur the background and keep the subject sharp?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Draw a box around the person or object you want to keep and choose “Everything else”; the rest of the picture is blurred. Choose “Whole image” to blur or pixelate the entire picture.

Question 4

Does blurring reduce the quality of the rest of the image?

Accepted Answer

No. Only the covered areas change, and the image is saved at full resolution (up to 6000 pixels on the longest side) as JPG, PNG or WebP. The format starts out matching your original file.

Question 5

Is my image uploaded?

Accepted Answer

No. The effect is applied in your browser, so sensitive screenshots and photos never leave your device.
