Question 1

How do I make a meme online?

Accepted Answer

Upload a picture (or start with a blank canvas), type your top and bottom text, and drag the captions wherever you want them. Adjust the text size, outline and colors, then download the meme as a JPG or PNG. Everything happens in your browser, so your picture is never uploaded.

Question 2

What font do memes use?

Accepted Answer

Classic memes use Impact: tall, bold, uppercase white letters with a black outline. This generator uses Anton, a free Impact-style font that looks the same on every phone and computer, and also offers bold sans-serif and serif styles.

Question 3

Can I add more than two captions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Click “Add text” to create as many extra text boxes as you need, then drag them anywhere on the picture. You can also select a caption and nudge it with the arrow keys, or delete it with the trash button.

Question 4

Is there a watermark on the meme?

Accepted Answer

No. There's no watermark and no sign-up. The meme is saved at your picture's own resolution, up to 3000 pixels on the longest side.

Question 5

Which pictures can I use?

Accepted Answer

Any JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or AVIF image on your device. Animated GIFs use their first frame. Long captions wrap onto extra lines automatically so they stay inside the picture.
